Frequently asked questions.
Q. I am coming off of physical therapy for a prior injury. Am I a good fit for working with a trainer?
A. Both pre surgery and post physical therapy can be great times to work with a trainer. Many times pre-surgery, especially joint replacement, strengthening the surrounding tissues and stabilizing muscles around the joint will lead to not only a better outcome after surgery but also a quicker recovery. Right after you’ve graduated from physical therapy is an excellent time to transition into more in-depth strengthening of affected areas. Most of the time physical therapy aims to regain a functional range of motion and clear you for pain-free activity. Once you have been cleared for more intense work, strengthening affected areas is vital in preventing future injuries. Of course, if you have any health history of pain or disability, please consult your doctor before undertaking new exercise regimens.
Q. Do you offer personalized workout plans so I can workout on my own and check in?
A. We offer hybrid and online programming. Hybrid-style plans involve both working with a trainer in person, along with workouts designed for you, whether at home or another gym on days you don’t see the trainer. Fully online programming may still require a few sessions so that the trainer can better suit the workout to you, however we do offer workouts for you to do on your own if that works best for your schedule.
Q. How will you match me with a trainer at the facility?
A. Angela will look at your goals, health history, and preferences for a trainer and match you with one of our coaches. Many times, personality is a huge factor in client-trainer relationships and this is also taken into account. Once a trainer is selected, schedules are compared to make sure all parties involved have the availability to make the commitment toward your health and wellness. Client preferences based on schedule, price range, and other factors are taken into account.
Q. I don’t feel “in-shape” enough. Should I workout for a while on my own before starting with a trainer?
A. Everyone’s starting point is different. Making the choice to change your body and work toward new goals is just as much a mental decision as it is a physical action. When you are ready will be dictated largely by how prepared you feel mentally. Our coaches are all trained to help you from any starting point, whether you are a seasoned athlete or a person who has never picked up a weight before. Your job is to make the mental commitment toward positive change, and we will help you with the heavy lifting.
